Preschool and Pre-K
Is your child ready to begin school? Preschool, Pre-K, and Kindergarten are wonderful educational stepping stones for young students to become acclimated to a classroom setting, begin learning and start to see the world differently. If you are interested in a faith-based, quality, private education, we invite you to come in and explore Bishop Leibold.
Bishop Leibold offers an Early Learning Program for three and four-year-old children to best meet the educational and social needs of our families. We provide a Catholic faith experience for our youngest parishioners. These state-licensed programs are held at the West Campus in Miamisburg and run from late August to May in conjunction with the BLS calendar.
For the Preschool Program, children must be three years old to participate
For the Pre-Kindergarten Program (Pre-K), children must be four years old
Both programs align with the Ohio Department of Education's Early Learning Content Standards and are consistent with Catholic Church teachings. Please note that Early Learning Program students must be toilet-trained; we do not have the facility provisions for diaper changing. Our Early Learning Program enrollment is limited, in compliance with the Ohio Department of Education standards. Registration opens the first week of February, and sessions are filled first come, first serve. For more information or to schedule a visit, please call the West Campus at 866-3021.
Our Early Learning Program Options
Our curriculum allows your child to choose activities in learning centers. Dramatic play, art, music, library, writing, and sensory are just examples of the centers our student's visit. Students will participate in large and small group activities, outdoor play, Bible stories, and daily prayer.
BLS Preschool for 3-year-olds focuses on small-group play, social skills, and educational and religious instruction appropriate to this introduction to school. This program is offered five days per week and runs from 8:00-11:00 AM daily.
The Pre-Kindergarten Program for 4-year-olds Includes core pre-Kindergarten skills and standards as defined by the Ohio Department of Education and the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Catholic religious instruction is an important program component. This program is offered five days a week with a half or full-day option for students.
Kindergarten at BLS
Bishop Leibold currently offers half and full-day kindergarten programs. All classes begin at 8:10 am and conclude at 11:00 am or 3:00 pm depending on your chosen option.
At BLS our job is to educate the whole child, intellectually, spiritually, physically, and socially. Our program has been created to do just that. Kindergarten is more than learning the ABCs and 123s. Skills like how to pray, how to interact with others and self-help skills are just as important. Often kindergarten is the beginning of a child’s “real” school
It is our job to create life-long learners who love school. We follow the standards set forth by the state of Ohio and the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. We enhance the learning of our students with field trips, special programs, and visitors. Through multiple learning opportunities, strategies, and models we are able to reach children where they are, help them grow from there. If a child comes to us reading then we will take that child to the next level as they are ready. Likewise, if a child comes to us not having ever been in school, we start the learning process where it is appropriate for them. Technology, large and small group instruction, and peer cooperation are all part of our learning process.
Students at BLS Kindergarten can look forward to experiencing all of these modules each day. Gym, Art, Music, Spanish, Religion, Library and Tech classes are also part of the many enrichment opportunities provided to Kindergarten students at BLS. Kindergarten is the beginning of your child’s formal education. It is a time of getting ready and preparing for all learning that is to come. We help build a strong and well-rounded foundation for our students. It is an exciting year for parents, teachers, and students as there is tremendous growth in academic learning, faith development and social skills that takes place with each child.
Exciting things will happen in kindergarten. Children will learn in many different ways. They work, play, experiment, create, make friends, and cooperate with others.
